Met League 2024/2025 – Claybury
A warm welcome to some first timers racing cross country for the club: Laura Ng for the women, Nehal Lavey-Khan, Harrison Lee and Chun Ng. Harrison moved up from the YA’s for his first senior men’s race.
Our regular trio of Karen, Kath and Jo once again filled the first three spots home for B&DAC with Charlotte, Jana and Sarah having great runs to make up the Women’s A team. Karen ran a quick race considering that she is supposed to be tapering in advance of her crack at the Triathlon World Championships in Spain next weekend. A big thanks to our fastest female in the Met League last year, Emma McCluskey, who also turned out for the club but sadly had to pull up due to illness. The team have a battle to keep hold of their spot in Division 1.
In the Women’s B team Kathryn, Steph and Laura all ran strongly finishing with seconds of each other! Thank you to all who turned up to race, organise and cheer home the teams.
It was great to see two of our star Young Athlete performers of last year return for the first race of the season (Noah and Callum), with Harrison stepping up for his first season as a senior and two first timers (Nehal and Chun) in the Met league. These five compromised half of our A team, allied to our experienced and fastest senior men ending the day in 4th place in Division 2, it looks like we could have a strong cross country season in the Met League. With Victoria Park Harriers C team taking up one of the promotion places (they cannot be promoted) consistent performance at the faster end of the field will keep our Men’s A team in the hunt for promotion.
Although we were short on numbers for the B team, five of our longstanding members raced strongly and stand in 4th place in Division 3. With higher turnout we can definitely push for promotion this season
