Met League Race 4 at Welwyn Garden City
Another great club turnout for the penultimate Met League fixture of the season with 15 senior women and 20 senior men competing, as well as all the supporters. An undulating course with an extreme camber make this an interesting if challenging race, however, favourable weather and conditions underfoot meant that some fast times could be posted.
It has been a great breakthrough season for our young athletes and once again they led us home with Charlotte Harris in 41st position overall, followed by Emma McCluskey in 55th (out of 178 senior women).
Familiar faces Martha Hall, Karen Murphy and Jo Kent have been some of our fastest over recent years and they continue to perform being the 3rd to 5th Barnet women home. Another young athlete deserves a special mention as Florence Humphrey in 6th and Sarah Moffat in 7th have battled each other throughout this season to lead the rest of female team home in the Met League.
Once again Joe Ward in 105th and Noah Clarke in 121st position (out of 379 senior mean) led the Stags home. At least something interesting happened when two of our more experienced male athletes in Alex Horton and Charlie White broke up the YA trio pipping Callum Sydenham to make up the first five (sorry Callum!) with all five coming home within 70 seconds of each other. Another great run from Philip Collington and a special mention to Will Cooper who posted a very respectable time within the next cohort of our fastest men.
