The Stags Migrate to Oak Hill Park
Saturday saw large numbers of Stags at the Oak Hill Parkrun (a wonderful Parkrun!) as part of what will be a Quarterly Club Promotion and it was a great success; very rewarding for those of us who attended. Our new Club gazebo (acquired the day before) also made an appearance and provided a great focal point for Club members and prospective members. Many members (at least those who read their memos) wore club vests or tops and we proved a very colourful and very visible presence which was fantastic. Lots of interest was shown in the Club and those Club members helping rather than running on the day found themselves busy performing an important and necessary role.
It is normal in reports such as this to list the times of those who competed but the Parkrun ethos is different and all Stags present performed an equally important role in representing the Club. Times are available on the web and the numerous photos on social media will help everyone see what support we as a club had on the day; lots! It was great to see how much the Club means to members.
A few points of note are worth making though:
Anna Murray was once again a star! She arrived early with our new gazebo, which she played a key role in acquiring, and with Jenny’s help set up ahead of everybody else’s arrival. She brought homemade cakes too (cross country runners will be well-fuelled this season), took photos and dealt with enquiries from prospective members. Well done!
It was the 100th Parkrun of Oana Labontu Radu which is a fantastic achievement! We’ve reminder her though to wear her Club Vest at all times and not her new Parkrun vest.
Agnes Jacobs, Mark Glover, Didier Peinke and Sian Stanton all recorded Parkrun PBs. Well done!
It was great to see Club stalwarts Maggie and Steve Harris there, as ever giving up their free time for the Club. Great examples to us all.
The next Club Parkrun Promotion is scheduled for Saturday 16th December so put a note in your diary. It promises to be another great occasion and you don’t want to miss it. Also the bigger our presence the better the impression we make. See you there!
